About this door

These Hardwood 1 Light stable doors are manufactured from kiln-dried red hardwood timber. Every effort is made to ensure that all timber used for our doors comes from well-managed forests where more trees are planted than harvested. The standard manufacture uses Through Mortice and Tenon construction. All doors have beading cut, mitred, and pinned.

Glazing

Supplied ready-to-glaze with a range of glass options available, these glazed external doors will accept a 4/6/4 cavity double-glazed unit.

Things we thought you may need to know!

Whilst we would always recommend fitting these external wooden doors to open inwards, they may also be used to open outwards where necessary.

Please be aware that any glass supplied may be temporarily glazed (loose pinned) into the door or even supplied separately. This is done to make the door easier to decorate (allows you to paint/stain behind rebates) & handle whilst hanging.

I have been pleased with the service from the moment I ordered. As to the door, it looks very good but until it has been hung I cannot tell.

Supplied unfinished, these doors are able to take a stain or paint finish. A range of products would be suitable, including Impranol, which is available from the "Stains, Paints and Finishes" section of our website.

The correct storage, fitting, and finishing of your new doors are very important factors in getting the best out of your purchase.

Please always avoid the use of water-based finishing products as this may cause the door to bow, warp or delaminate. Using these types of products will invalidate your guarantee.

Before finishing your door, we would always recommend reading our Door Care information which can be viewed by clicking here, along with any additional manufacturer's documentation supplied with the door itself.

These doors are manufactured using laminated veneered lumber (LVL). LVL or more commonly known as “engineered timber” is a modern method of construction that is economical with the use of natural timber resources.

The main parts & rails of the door are usually constructed using solid strips/blocks of timber (some internals may contain a laminated board and/or particleboard), which are then glued and then clamped together.

They are then faced with a veneer and edged with a solid timber “lipping”. The benefits of using engineered construction doors over more traditional methods are that it is far more unlikely to twist or split (we do not get problems with panels splitting) and possibly the most important reason is that it is much more eco-friendly!
